WCBD-TV, the NBC affiliate in beautiful Charleston, SC, is looking for its next Weekend Meteorologist and Social Media Reporter. Applicants should have a degree or certification in meteorology. We are looking for someone who is passionate about weather with a great personality who delivers dynamic, compelling weathercasts, and shines during severe and tropical weather coverage. The successful candidate will also present afternoon traffic three days per week, and file regular written and video reports on our web and social media sites. Experience with WSI Max Storm is a plus.
Candidate needs: Minimum of 2 years’ experience preparing and presenting weathercasts for a commercial broadcast television station; degree or certification in meteorology; professional, engaging on-air presence; ability to operate weather systems, specifically WSI, to discern data and develop accurate forecasts, including creation of new and unique graphic presentations; significant experience with digital and mobile forecasting; and consistent engagement with viewers through social media platforms. Some experience with traffic reporting systems preferred. Include talent reel with application.

The Meteorologist must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Meteorologist I must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
