    Position Summary

    JOB SUMMARY:  The Senior Programmatic Specialist is a key member of the Nexstar Digital Agency Services team, responsible for expertly managing display and video campaigns from end to end in various DSPs.  The Senior Specialist will collaborate with a best-in-class digital activation team, including Ad Operations, Client Success, and Media Strategy, on structuring and executing campaigns to meet and exceed client KPIs.


    The ideal candidate has a healthy understanding of digital performance analytics, a passion for data analysis, and the ability to communicate effectively with both digital and non-digital professionals.  He/she is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and willing to explore opportunities for growth and improvement.


    The Senior Programmatic Specialist is also responsible for ensuring that campaigns managed by other team members are hitting delivery, KPI, and margin goals, and for providing creative solutions when needed to deliver to those goals.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Manage multi-channel programmatic campaigns (display and/or video/OTT) for SMB as well as enterprise clients with various KPIs and desired client outcomes.
    • Work with internal teams to determine best practices around campaign optimization strategies and executions.
    • Curate and continually refine a knowledge of the entire digital media landscape to make sure clients have the best media delivery and performance possible.
    • Establish a collaborative relationship with external vendors, internal teams and external Nexstar business units.
    • Develop and manage processes with external vendor partners, as well as help define internal workflows and process in collaboration with other departments, and communicate updates to the Programmatic team.
    • Conduct testing of new vendors, technology, products, etc., as needed with the goal of driving innovation, improving results, and meeting business objectives for the team and company.
    • Train new team members, acting as a mentor and guide to share knowledge and best practices with others.
    • Troubleshoot campaign delivery and performance issues, and act as a resource for the team in those efforts.


    Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Knowledge of the programmatic buying landscape and real-time media buying.
    • Experience with viewability/ad fraud, verification, and other ad serving technologies.
    • Proficiency managing campaigns with various KPIs including lead generation/conversions, video completion, viewability, click-through rate, and more.
    • Possess “Buck-stops-here” accountability; treats our clients’ campaigns and budgets as if they were their own.
    • Natural problem solver who is both curious and thrives under pressure and deadlines. 
    • Able to simplify the complex; can present and analyze campaign performance data effectively and efficiently.
    • Excels in a collaborative team environment.
    • Gets fired up by “the win” (a successful campaign, a big pitch – you name it).
    • Energized by change; adaptable, agile, able to pivot to reflect changing processes and technology, industry evolution, and client requirements.
    • Excellent oral & written communication.


    Education/ExperienceBS/BA from an accredited four-year university or equivalent related work experience and 3+ years of experience in the Programmatic arena is key.  Deep understanding of process and product improvement is a plus.


    Training/EquipmentExperience with programmatic buying platforms like The Trade Desk,, Beeswax, DBM, AppNexus, and/or others; proficiency in  G-Suite and Microsoft Office desktop applications, particularly Excel; familiarity with HTML/CSS and data visualization tools is a plus.
